The Elderly are Visited by Cats who are Also Elderly, in Order to Encourage Each Other

For owners of cats or other pets, must be very understanding of the special feeling gained while maintaining them. However, ages, the elderly are no longer allowed to keep animals because their physical condition and health are very limited. Though they still want to always interact with animals, one of them a cat.

The Ohio Alleycat Resource cat shelter really understands the feelings of the elderly people living in some nursing homes around the area. So they invited a number of elderly shelter cats to visit and share their joy with the elderly there.

Since living in a nursing home, some elderly have so longed to hold and hug a cat, but unfortunately the nursing home does not keep a cat. They can only be satisfied with pet cat photo shoots from family or relatives. Though cats give a psychological positive effect on the elderly there, then when they can return to holding the cat into a moment of extraordinary happiness.

For the senior cat too, the visit is very fun, because older cats are generally not too physical activity. They prefer to be caressed, invited to sleep together, or just to be spoiled. Jordan Umerley, a volunteer at the shelter, said most residents of nursing homes can only tell the past when they were able to keep animals, but they are sad that they can no longer maintain and connect with animals. At least with the visit of the cat to the nursing home could give them the spirit to enjoy life longer, also encourage the cat who still feel loved in old age.
